For the 11th consecutive year, BWH was recognized on the U.S. News & World Report annual Honor Roll of “America’s Best Hospitals,” ranking 12th overall. Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) also made the list, ranking fourth overall. Once again, BWH and MGH were the only Massachusetts and New England hospitals to make the Honor Roll
“Our consistent presence on the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll over the course of the last decade is reflective of the hard work and tremendous dedication of all BWH employees each and every day,” said Gary L. Gottlieb, MD, MBA, BWH president. “Thank you for making this a truly remarkable place to work and receive care.”
In the magazine’s ranking of the best hospitals in 17 specialty areas, BWH ranked among the top 10 in six categories including cardiology/cardiac surgery, digestive disorders, hormonal disorders, gynecology, kidney disease and rheumatology. The hospital also placed in the top 40 hospitals in five additional specialties, including geriatrics, neurology/ neurosurgery, orthopedics, respiratory and urology.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated eligible hospitals based on reputation, mortality and a number of other factors related to patient care, including nursing and technology, to determine the 2003 Honor Roll.
Other Partners-affiliated organizations also received high honors, including McLean Hospital, which ranked fourth among America’s psychiatric programs and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, which placed ninth among rehabilitation centers.
